Two Ways to Stock It
The product in the tube is identical. The only difference is whose name is on the label — and that changes the minimum, the price and the setup, so it's worth looking at both before you decide.
-
Our label
Wholesale Farmer's Body lip balm, ready to put on the shelf. The simplest way to find out whether it sells in your shop.
- $2.50 each — no setup fee, ever
- Cases of 6, minimum 12 of any one flavor
- $150 minimum order — mix balm, lotion and soap to reach it
- 62% margin at our $6.50 retail
-
Your label
Your shop's name on the tube. It stops being someone else's brand on your shelf and becomes something only you sell.
- $2.35 down to $1.10 as the quantity rises
- Minimum 50 tubes, in lots of 25 per flavor
- $75 setup once — reorders of the same label are free
- 64–83% margin at $6.50 retail
You don't have to reach $150 in lip balm. Lip balm, lotion and foaming hand soap all count toward the same minimum, so a first order can be a bit of each — which is usually the smarter way to do it, because it tells you which of the three actually sells in your shop.
Which label to start with, honestly. Under about 150 tubes, our label costs less per unit — the $75 setup is what tips it. At 150 and above, your own label is cheaper even on that first order, and every reorder after it is cheaper still, because the setup fee never comes back. So: stock our label first, watch how it moves, and switch to your own name once you're reordering in the hundreds. We'll tell you when you've crossed over rather than waiting for you to work it out.

Pixiebalm · private-label line · ★★★★★What You Make on It
We sell this balm for $6.50 on our own site, so that's the number the margins below are figured against. You set your own shelf price — plenty of shops go higher, particularly with their own name on the tube.
Your label — cost and margin
| You order | Cost each | Margin at $6.50 |
|---|---|---|
| 50–149 | $2.35 | 64% |
| 150–299 | $1.85 | 72% |
| 300–999 | $1.35 | 79% |
| 1,000+ | $1.10 | 83% |
Kraft paperboard tubes are exactly $1.65 more per tube at every band, if a renewable, compostable tube is something your customers look for. Under our label the price is a flat $2.50 each at any quantity, for a 62% margin.
A $150 opening order in lip balm alone is about 60 tubes, which is $390 of retail on your shelf — or spread the same $150 across balm, lotion and soap.
A first order of 150 under your own name: 150 × $1.85 is $277.50, plus the $75 setup — $352.50, or $2.35 a tube all in. That's $975 of retail. Reorder the same label and it's $277.50, or $1.85 a tube.
Because flavors are made in lots of 25, your private-label total is always a multiple of 25. If you land just under a price break, round up — 150 costs $277.50 against $293.75 for 125, and 300 costs $405 against $508.75 for 275. More stock, less money.
Shipping is quoted separately — our retail free-shipping offer doesn't cover wholesale or custom orders.
What You're Actually Putting on the Shelf
Poured by hand, in small batches, in a Vermont workshop — which is the part your customer wants to hear at the register, and the part a catalogue balm can't claim.
Seven ingredients: rice bran oil, coconut oil, stearic acid, cocoa and/or mango seed butter, candelilla wax, essential or flavor oil, and vitamin E. Made without petroleum-derived ingredients, and the wax is candelilla rather than beeswax, so it's vegan. Each tube is 0.15 oz / 4.25 g.
It's formulated by a practicing periodontist with a diploma in organic skincare formulation, and made by her team of women in the workshop. We're a certified Vermont Green Business, and the kraft paperboard tube is there for shops whose customers look for it.
How It Works
- 1 Apply for wholesale A short form about your shop. We'll come back with pricing and answer anything the page didn't.
- 2 Start under our label $150 of balm, lotion and soap in whatever mix suits your shop, shipped from stock. See how it does before you commit further.
- 3 Put your name on it Send your logo and we'll design the label and email proofs within a few days. Nothing prints until you approve it.
- 4 Reorder Same label, no setup fee, most orders out the door within two weeks of approval.
Lead times differ between the two. Stock under our label ships from what's on hand. Private label is made to order: most orders are out the door within two weeks of the moment you approve your label proof, with a few days at the front for the proof round and transit on top — so plan on about three weeks from ordering to delivery. If you're stocking for a season or a market date, tell us the date and we'll confirm it before you order.
In a rush? Tell us anyway. Rush processing is available on standard and paper tubes for an extra fee, and rush orders of standard tubes can often be processed and shipped out within a few days. Call 1-802-359-7514 or email info@farmersbody.com with your date before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
Beyond Lip Balm
Two more things we make under your label: hand and body lotion and foaming hand soap, in eleven scents including unscented. Both come in full size for the shelf, or as 2 oz minis that work at the register or as a three-piece set with the balm, priced as one item rather than three — and all of it counts toward the same $150 minimum.
For our own retail line — bar soap, deodorant, body butter and sugar scrub — ask and we'll send the current wholesale list. And if you'd like something on the counter rather than the shelf, we can quote a branded display stand or a printed sign to match your labels; it's usually what turns a box of balm into an impulse buy at the register.
Frequently Asked Questions About Wholesale & Private Label
What's the minimum order?
Wholesale orders have a $150 minimum, on every order rather than just the first — and you can mix products to reach it. Lip balm, lotion and foaming hand soap all count toward the same $150.
Under our label, lip balm is $2.50 each in cases of 6, with a minimum of 12 of any one flavor — so $150 of lip balm alone is about 60 tubes. Under your own label the minimum is 50 tubes in lots of 25 per flavor, plus a one-time $75 label setup fee.
Can we mix products to reach the minimum?
Yes — lip balm, lotion and foaming hand soap all count toward the same $150, so you don't have to commit sixty tubes of lip balm to open an account. Mixing is usually the smarter first order anyway, because it tells you which of the three sells in your shop.
What margin do we make?
We sell the balm at $6.50 on our own site. At $2.50 wholesale under our label that's a 62% margin. Under your own label it runs from 64% at the 50-tube band to 83% at 1,000 or more — $2.35 each for 50–149, $1.85 for 150–299, $1.35 for 300–999 and $1.10 for 1,000 or more. You set your own shelf price; $6.50 is simply what we charge.
Should we start with your label or our own?
Under about 150 tubes, ours costs less per unit, because your own label carries the one-time $75 setup. At 150 tubes and above, your own label is cheaper even on that first order, and reorders of the same label are free of the setup fee after that. So the usual path is to stock our label first, see how it sells, then switch to your own name once you're reordering in the hundreds.
Can we put our shop's name on the label?
Yes. Send whatever you have — a logo file, a photo of your shop sign, your website — and we design the label around your branding and email proofs within a few days. Nothing goes into production until you've signed off. You can also send your logo before you order and we'll email you a free mockup so you can see it on a tube first.
How long does an order take?
Stock under our label ships from what we have on hand. Private label is made to order: most orders are out the door within two weeks of the moment you approve your label proof, with a few days at the front for the proof round and transit on top — so plan on about three weeks from ordering to delivery. Rush processing is available on standard and paper tubes for an extra fee.
Is there a display stand for the counter?
Yes — we can quote a branded display stand or a printed sign to match your labels. It's usually what turns a box of balm on a shelf into an impulse buy at the register. Ask when you order and we'll quote it with the balms.
What's in it?
Seven ingredients: rice bran oil, coconut oil, stearic acid, cocoa and/or mango seed butter, candelilla wax, essential or flavor oil, and vitamin E. Made without petroleum-derived ingredients, and candelilla wax rather than beeswax, so it's vegan. It does contain coconut and cocoa or mango butter, and some flavors are nut-derived — almond among them. Unscented has no added flavor or essential oil. Each tube is 0.15 oz / 4.25 g.
Can we private label anything besides lip balm?
Yes — hand and body lotion and foaming hand soap under your label, in eleven scents including unscented. Both come in full size for the shelf, or as 2 oz minis that work at the register or as a three-piece set with the balm. Tell us what you'd like to stock and roughly how many and we'll quote it. For the rest of our own retail line — bar soap, deodorant, body butter and sugar scrub — ask about wholesale and we'll send the current list.
Do you accept purchase orders and net terms?
Yes. We take business credit cards and checks, we accept purchase orders, we can set up net terms, and we'll provide a W-9 for your records. Just ask before you order — email info@farmersbody.com or call 1-802-359-7514.
Do reorders cost less?
Under your own label, yes. The $75 setup fee is charged once, and every reorder of the same label is free of it — so your second order of the same design costs less per unit than your first. Under our label there's no setup fee at any point, and the price is a flat $2.50 a tube.
How many flavors should we carry?
Under our label you can mix in cases of 6, with at least 12 of any one flavor. Under your own label, flavors are made in lots of 25, so a 50-tube order is two flavors and 100 is four. Most shops start with three or four — one obvious crowd-pleaser, one seasonal, one unscented — and let the till tell them what to reorder. The current flavor list has all 70+, and it changes seasonally, which gives regulars a reason to look again.
$150 gets it on your shelf.
Balm, lotion and foaming soap in whatever mix suits your shop, shipped from stock. If it moves, put your own name on it — and once you're ordering 150 tubes at a time, that costs you less per tube than ours does.
