There’s simply nothing better than relaxing at the end of a long day with a book, a cup of herbal tea or a glass of wine, and a nice lit candle. This is especially true when it starts to cool off outside, and colder weather is quickly approaching! Now is the time to stock up on candles, and we definitely think you should shop with Farmer’s Body when you’re replenishing your candle stash this season.
Here’s an inside look at the ingredients in our scented soy wax candles.
Soy wax is a wax that’s created through a process called hydrogenation. This process involves rolling the soybeans into flakes after harvesting them and then extracting the oil. After the extraction, the oil cools to room temperature and can be used for making a variety of things, including our hand-poured candles.
We love soy wax here at Farmer’s Body because it’s so eco-friendly. It’s 100% naturally derived from soybeans, making it both biodegradable and compostable. Plus, the process of extracting soy wax is completely sustainable since soybeans can be replanted season after season.
Soy wax is also a great ingredient to use in handmade candles because it’s non-toxic, so it doesn’t produce as much soot and harmful chemicals as something like traditional paraffin wax might. Another bonus? It’s super easy to clean up if you accidentally spill it! All it takes is a little bit of scrubbing and wiping with warm water and a rag since soy wax is water-soluble.
100% Cotton Wicks
A cotton wick is pretty much exactly what you'd expect: plain braided cotton. Most are pre-coated with synthetic wax or beeswax to help them burn easily and maintain their high quality. We love using cotton wicks with our candles because they’re so easy to light, so you can spend less time trying to get your candle to light and more time actually enjoying the candle.
One of the best parts about cotton wicks? They provide an exceptionally long burn time, so you can enjoy your candle as long as possible.
We don’t use any dyes or additives in our soy wax candles, but we do add essential oils to make the candles smell amazing. Essential oils can have a huge impact on your mood, and they honestly just smell delightful. They’ve also been shown to reduce stress and help promote quality sleep (WebMD).
When do you start stocking up on candles for fall and winter? We say it’s never too early— shop our handmade scented soy wax candles today!
