Fixer Upper Style Renovation Updates!

Fixer Upper Style Renovation Updates!

Who loves a good HGTV renovation show? I know I do! But have you ever lived a renovation in person...if you have you'll know it isn't *quite* as smooth as on TV. I see you nodding your heads out there.

We've been hard at work on our renovation of an old barn on the property. It will be the new production site for Farmer's Body and we.can't.wait. We are completely out of room in our current space and just dying to get a bit of room to move around.

Here is where we started...

We are doing as much of the work as possible ourselves (and by ourselves, I really mean I design it and buy all the things and my husband executes it).

At this point, we are wrapping up the not so glamorous portions of renovation...electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc. You know- the expensive part that no one will ever see. BUT we have walls framed and drywall has started, so we are moving in the right direction! It is just starting to take on the look of an actual useable space.

We did have a huge digger come in to trench out a new electrical service to the barn since the soapmaking equipment requires a lot of electricity. I couldn't believe how quickly they were able to dig such a huge hole...and then cover it back up again!

The final design includes a production room, storage/warehouse/workshop area, office/break room, and a bathroom. And TONS of lighting because I can't stand working in the dark. The pendant lights for the workshop area arrived today and there will be recessed lighting in the rest of the space.

Next big decision: flooring. They are currently unfinished concrete in medium condition- leave or cover over? To be determined!

Thanks for following along- we can't wait to continue on this journey with you! Look for more updates to come.
