A Closer Look at the Butters and Oils in Our Soaps
Here at Farmer’s Body, we know how important it is to know exactly what goes into the self-care products you use on a daily basis. You don’t want to put just anything on your skin, right? Here’s a quick guide to what goes into our hand-poured bar soaps.
Olive oil
Olive oil provides deep moisture and helps create a luxurious lather. This is the perfect ingredient for anyone with dry skin. Since olive oil is so mild and has a lower pH than most ingredients found in traditional soaps and body washes, it’s a great ingredient for anyone who has sensitive skin. Olive oil also has antioxidant properties that can help protect the skin from environmental damage (Nourished Life).
Coconut oil
Like olive oil, coconut oil has great moisturizing properties that will leave your skin feeling soft and healthy. It’s rich in Vitamin E, which is great for any skin type. One of the best features of coconut oil is that it’s high in cleansing, making it the perfect ingredient for our soaps. It also has properties that can soothe skin redness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (Fleur & Bee).
Castor oil
You guessed it: Castor oil is incredibly moisturizing, too! Castor oil is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the air and pulls it to the skin and prevents any moisture loss (WebMD). It can also reduce the appearance of redness and puffiness. Castor oil helps to stabilize bubbles and increases creaminess in lather, which is why we use it in our bar soaps.
Shea butter
If you hadn’t already noticed, we’re all about making sure our soaps keep your skin healthy and moisturized. Shea butter is a super luxe emollient that’s great for conditioning the skin. Shea butter is a natural product rich in fatty acids and vitamins and has been used for centuries in skincare.
Essential oils
We use a variety of essential oils in our soaps for fragrance and for their aromatherapy properties. Here’s a look at just a few of them:
- Rosemary essential oil has been shown to improve brain function, ease soreness, and ease stress (Healthline). We use this essential oil in soaps like our Rosemary Mint bar soap.
- Lavender essential oil has calming properties and can be used to address the appearance of acne and skin irritation. We use this oil in soaps like our Lavender Calm bar soap.
- Tea tree essential oil is great for combatting the appearance of acne and redness. We use tea tree oil in our popular Tea Tree and Charcoal bar soap.
P.S. Some of our signature bar soaps have extra ingredients like charcoal and honey that are also great for the skin!
