Anti-Aging Done Naturally

Anti-Aging Done Naturally

We’ll be the first to admit that there’s no magical skincare ingredient out there that can make you look years younger in an instant. There are definitely products on the market that make promises like that, but we aren’t in the business of making those kinds of outlandish claims.

There are, however, lots of natural ingredients you can incorporate into your personal care routine that have anti-aging properties and can help keep your skin healthy and firm. Here’s a quick look at just a few of them.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an ultra-moisturizing ingredient, which means it can work wonders to hydrate and plump up your skin. It also contains positive healing antioxidants that can slow down wrinkles and make existing ones less prominent, according to a study conducted in 2013. Several of our handmade personal care products here at Farmer’s Body contain coconut oil, including our moisturizing lotions and lip balms.

Silk Amino Acids

Silk amino acids have been shown to support the skin’s overall keratin health by preventing moisture loss and damage (The Derm Review). Since they’re able to soak up and retain water, silk amino acids are able to help the skin stay hydrated, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re looking to introduce silk amino acids into your personal care routine, we suggest trying out one of our signature hand and body lotions

Cetyl Alcohol

Even though it seems like an alcohol would dry the skin out and make wrinkles more noticeable, cetyl alcohol actually softens the skin and protects it from moisture loss, which can really cut down on the appearance of existing wrinkles (WebMD). It does so by forming an oily barrier on the skin that keeps the moisture in and gives the skin a healthier look overall. Cetyl alcohol is typically found in rich lotions and other personal care products with moisturizing properties.

Olive Oil

Olive oil has strong antioxidant properties, which means it has the power to protect skin cells and reduce premature aging (Medical News Today). It’s also extremely moisturizing and contains lots of vitamins that are great for maintaining optimal skin health. An easy way to add olive oil to your personal care routine is with one of our natural lip balms or moisturizing body butters.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is rich in fatty acids, meaning it has anti-aging properties that can make your skin look smoother and plumper overall (Healthline). It also has anti-inflammatory properties, so it’s great for anyone with sensitive skin.  We use shea butter in our body butters and bar soaps to make them as moisturizing and healing as possible.
